About GBP Rank AI

Built to keep local trust working.

More than 15 years in ecommerce and supply chain led to one practical idea: make everyday Google profile work easier for businesses that have already earned their customers' trust.

  • Google Business Profile API access
  • OpenAI fine-tuned model
  • Context kept separate by location

Where it started

One roofing business exposed a problem worth solving.

The work of posting, replying to reviews, fixing details, and watching your rank never ends. These tasks are also among the first things to slip when you're busy.

A friend with a roofing company was paying thousands of dollars per month for SEO, yet the business was hard to find when someone searched for roof repair nearby. The profile did not give Google or prospective customers a complete, active picture of the work the company was doing.

That gap is why GBP Rank AI is a local-visibility application, not a traditional SEO agency. It helps businesses manage the profile layer customers compare in Google Search and Maps while their website and broader SEO continue to play an important, complementary role.

The founder took over the Google Business Profile and manually reviewed its categories, services, service descriptions, business description, hours, and social links. The company began asking customers for reviews, uploading completed-job and before-and-after photos, and publishing regular posts and updates.

That hands-on process took days, but it established the pattern behind the product: accurate information, real proof of work, customer feedback, and consistent activity all help Google and customers better understand a business.

17 to top three

One roofing-company result

In that specific case, the profile moved from approximately position 17 to the top three in less than 45 days, with no additional ad spend for the profile work.

Seven more businesses

The process was repeated

The founder repeated the manual approach with seven additional companies in New York, Nevada, and Florida before turning it into software.

From process to product

The lesson was consistency.

Real customers, reviews, and projects were already there. Keeping that proof current became the work to automate.

First version built in eight months

The manual system became GBP Rank AI.

The first version of GBP Rank AI took approximately eight months to build, test, and refine. More than two years later, the team continues to release updates, develop new features, gather client feedback, and stay close to changes in AI and local search through AI conferences and Google-hosted seminars the team was invited to attend. That ongoing work helps the platform adapt while preserving each company’s identity across profile optimization, content, reviews, local-rank measurement, and reporting.

A secure Google connection

After completing Google's approval process for Business Profile API access, GBP Rank AI built a secure connection that lets business owners authorize the platform through their Google account and select the locations they want it to manage.

A model grounded in each business

GBP Rank AI combines an OpenAI fine-tuned model with a business-specific context engine for every client and location. That context can include categories, services, profile information, website content, approved topics, performance history, and communication style, allowing each location to maintain its own identity.

Review replies that fit the location

GBP Rank AI analyzes each client location's existing Google reviews and owner replies to understand its tone, writing style, response patterns, and customer language. AI-generated review replies and feedback content are then tailored to match that location's established brand voice.

Field media with useful context

The focused mobile Check-In lets field staff capture real job-site photos and videos without full account access. The office can also bring in selected CompanyCam and SharePoint media. Approved business, service, ZIP, topic, project, filename, and available metadata context can then make eligible assets useful in Google Photos, Google Posts, Meta Studio, before-and-after proof, and activity reporting.

Built from real operating needs

Field work and customer conversations became part of the system.

Bring real photos, customer feedback, and team activity into everyday local marketing.

Media without full account access

A configurable passcode lets technicians or marketing staff contribute photos and videos without becoming full application users. Service choices come from the selected location's business context, which reduces incorrect tagging. Field uploads can then support before-and-after content, profile posts, social publishing, media libraries, and client reports.

What clearer data can reveal

Specific client examples helped shape the product.

These are individual owner-reported experiences, not promises that every business will produce the same result.

More than $20,000 in irrelevant ad spend

One onboarding review exposed a costly search-term mismatch.

A client discovered that paid searches were targeting a similarly spelled name associated with an unrelated clothing retailer. The review found more than $20,000 in ad spend tied to that irrelevant term, showing why clear search and profile reporting matters.

More than 30 organic leads per month

One mortgage-industry client reduced its dependence on referrals.

In that specific case, the owner attributed stronger Google visibility in Florida and New York, plus more than 30 organic leads per month, to the profile optimization work. The result is a client example, not a universal ranking or lead guarantee.

Why existing tools were not enough

Listings synchronization was only part of the job.

The product was shaped by client setups that still needed deeper work around each individual location.

For this client, Yext was being used primarily to synchronize listings and profile data. That helped keep basic information consistent, but it did not give the client the deeper, location-specific optimization, automated content, review workflows, performance insight, and manager controls the team still needed. GBP Rank AI was a better fit because it provides a direct operating layer around each connected location, with separate business context, content, reviews, permissions, and reporting.

Google’s later Q&A and analytics API changes also reduced legacy workflows and metrics across third-party platforms. Those changes were made by Google, not Yext, and reinforce why GBP Rank AI continues to adapt as Google’s ecosystem changes.
